Before you go getting all excited (or disappointed), no, this isn’t THAT kind of blog…. Haha. They say luck is when preparation meets opportunity. We’ve been prepping for this trip to 3 national parks for a while. Gonna visit Grand Teton, Yellowstone and Glacier. Taking my parents along. Mom has a bad back so she has a walker and a wheelchair that come along as well. Rented a minivan for the 12 days to fit all our “stuff” (some may call it by another “s” word). Did a one way rental since we were flying into Jackson Hole WY and flying home from Glacier. Had a great flight up. Luckily the project at the airpot to redo the runway finished on time, and opened just a few days before we arrived. Alamo, however, couldn’t find our reservation, so I pulled my confirmation up on my phone. I went to show my husband the email when two little letters caught my eye…. “MS.” And then it hit me - I booked for Jackson MISSISSIPPI! Oh. No. What have I done?!?! Total wave of panic. Long story short I got lucky and we were able to rent a Toyota Highlander (after lots of searching with different companies who had NO availability) for the days and locations we wanted. More expensive mind you but beggars can NOT be choosers! I guess it’ll end up being cheaper than ubering everywhere for 12 days, but I’m not 100% sure!
ANYWAY…. After a rocky start we got off to a great couple of days in Jackson (WYOMING) and Grand Teton National Park. Had dinner at the local saloon followed in the playhouse by a production of Paint Your Wagon. Great food and the show was excellent!! Today, we saw lots of sights and wildlife in the park (moose, beaver, elk, geese, buffalo, pronghorn). Another great dinner tonite, but this time at the Gun Barrel Steak and Game restaurant (I had bison prime rib that was soooo good). Went to Dairy Queen and drove back into the park to watch the sunset. Now it’s time for bed cuz we are exhausted!! Looking forward to celebrating the 4th of July here in Jackson (WYOMING). I’m so thankful (and lucky) to live in this great country and land of opportunity! God Bless the USA…
